KANGAR: Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) won the Best Invention Award regarding inventing a 'portable solar generators: extra Generation' at the 26th International New technology Innovation Exhibition (ITEX) 2015, a prior weekend not too long ago.
The invention was made last December to aid the flood victims at the short-run shelters to recharge their cellular phones during power supply cut-off due to the a problem that devastated 11 states. With regards to statement yesterday, the university explained the award was given by the Mouthpiece Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also the Education Ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) at the event's 'celebration of creativity' dinner.
It said the higher educatoin institutions also grabbed a gold metal for the invention under the Environment but Renewable Energy category.
"The success develops sweeter as all of 60 UniMap's research products have grabbed 22 gold, 31 silver and 7 bronze medals out of 665 medals offered and maintaining a percent per cent achievement as last year, " it said.
The 2015 ITEX was organised by the Malaysian New technology and Design Society (MINDS) for the 23-category competition and saw the exact participation of more than 1, 000 foods from 20 countries apart from Malaysia.
Among participating countries were Athens, Egypt, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Dalam negeri, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Korea, Moldova, Philippine, Poland, Romania, Russia, Arab saudi, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, The United States but Malaysia. — Bernama
